The alt-right’s unlikely ally, the American Civil
Liberty Union (ACLU) has come out to place the blame of the violence in
Charlottesville this past week on the Law Enforcement agencies which were
present.
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe placed the blame for the violence in Charlottesville on the ACLU and the Rutherford Institute. The ACLU responded to the governor's claim on its website:
“But let’s be clear: our lawsuit challenging the city to act constitutionally did not cause violence nor did it in any way address the question whether demonstrators could carry sticks or other weapons at the events."
According to Virginia’s ACLU chief Claire G. Gastanaga,
"It is the responsibility of law enforcement to ensure safety of both
protesters and counter-protesters. The policing on Saturday was not effective
in preventing violence.”
Despite 1,000 first responders being mobilized as
well as 300 state police and National Guard members, Michael Signer, the Mayor
of Charlottesville, ordered police to stand down during the most chaotic and
destructive period of the protests – despite police protests against the
orders.

The police stood idly by on the sidelines while a brawl was allowed to ensue. If you studied the videos of the UC Berkeley riots earlier this year, the same thing happened: the police seemed to let the rioters take over. When McAuliffe was asked about the criticism of law enforcement’s inaction, he replied “They [the alt-Right militia] had better equipment
than our State Police had."
WHAT!
McAuliffe must be kidding. The police have become militarized during the last decade and the alt-Right's militias are better prepared!
Virginia State Police spokesperson Corrine Geller told The Washington Free Beacon that the police “were equipped, with the necessary protective and tactical gear for their safety and, obviously, to protect those that were in attendance of the event.”

Virginia State Police spokesperson Corrine Geller told The Washington Free Beacon that the police “were equipped, with the necessary protective and tactical gear for their safety and, obviously, to protect those that were in attendance of the event.”
McAuliffe claims that the protesters “had battering
rams and, you know, we had picked up different weapons they had stashed around
the city. This was a powder keg. This was a very volatile situation.”
According to Reason, Geller stated that “searches
were conducted in and around Emancipation and McIntire Parks and no weapons
were located.”
ProPublica reported that "the militia members
seemed to be the only ones breaking up fights and trying to keep the peace in
the tumult . . . the state police and National Guardsmen mostly stood aside and
watched as the violence grew worse.” The lack of policing eventually led to
violence in which the Virginia Governor declared a state of emergency, declared
an 'unlawful assembly' and cleared the area of demonstrators.
The Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe was co-chairman of President
Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign and was chairman of Hillary Clinton's
2008 presidential campaign claimed that the Virginia State Police were
outgunned by the white supremacists and neo-Nazis. As a result, the police were
hesitant to break up their violent conflict with counter-protesters and the alt-Left.
When Geller, spoke to The Wall Street Journal, she said the plan was to keep the two
sides separated. "There were physical barriers to separate those opposing
sides and law enforcement as well, however individuals chose to assemble on the
streets. Geller continues with, "We are not in a position to tell people
where to assemble."
But, many Charlottesville police officers have come
forward to express their outrage at being told to “stand down” by the Charlottesville Mayor during violent clashes between protesters. Michael Singer, coincidentally
previously worked with John Podesta [former chairman of the 2016 Hillary
Clinton presidential campaign] at the Center of American Progress and worked
with him again on Barack Obama’s State Department Transition Team before
becoming the Charlottesville mayor.

The officers claims the protests, which pitched “white
supremacists” against members of Antifa, were “set up” to allow for the groups
to ignite into exactly what happened.
“We were ordered to bring the rival groups together.
As soon as they were in contact with each other, we were told to stand down. It
was outrageous. We weren’t allowed to arrest anyone without asking the mayor
first.”
In addition to McAuliffe's and Signer's conspiracy to have the rally called off by way of
declaring an emergency, the discovery of a Craigslist
ad posted last Monday is raising new questions over whether paid protesters
were sourced. The ad was placed on Craigslist
by a Los Angeles based “public relations firm" called "Crowds on
Demand" offering $25 per hour to "actors and photographers" to
serve as agitators in counterprotests in the Charlotte, NC area.
It is no surprise that the alt-Left and everybody who was linked to
the violence is connected to the Clinton’s and their campaigns: McAuliffe and Signer.
