Michael Cohen is a Rat who Squealed like A Pig

By jamesbaxley

At least Paul Manafort didn’t squeal and stood up to the system, unlike Michael Cohen who squealed like a pig at any reference to doing time at Club Fed. The left is praising this guy Cohen as if he’s a hero when in fact, once he goes to prison, he will be quickly discarded. The left is using Cohen as a pawn to help take down President Trump.

Donald Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, 51, pleaded guilty in a New York court to five counts of tax evasion of more than $4 million from the IRS, one count of making false statements to a financial institution, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporation contribution, and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution at the request of a candidate.

Michael Cohen also admitted to eight counts of tax and bank fraud in which he could face up to 65 years. In a plea deal with prosecutors, Cohen could have his sentence reduced to five years and three months.

In addition of making excessive campaign contributions at the request of a candidate (Trump), two of the campaign finance violations involved making payments to silence women he believed could be detrimental to the 2016 presidential campaign.

Just because a Mueller says that Cohen violated a campaign law doesn’t make it so. Mueller isn’t the judge. He is not the jury. There were no formal judgements, it never went to court.

Legal expert, former lawyer, and Conservative talker Mark Levin argues that Cohen pled guilty to the charges despite them not being offenses and at the bidding of Mueller insistes they were offenses.

Federal prosecutors claimed Cohen made $280,000 in payments to two women who planned to speak publicly about their affairs with a "presidential candidate." The two women in question were Playboy model Karen McDougal and adult actress Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels who alleges to have had an affair with Mr. Trump was paid $130,000 to keep quiet about it.

But the problem is, the payments to these women are not crimes. They are not campaign violations, campaign finance violations.

Rush Limbaugh summed it up best, “They do not constitute illegal acts in any way, shape, manner, or form. No matter who made the payment, no matter who reimbursed the payment, no matter who wrote the check, no matter who signed the check, no matter who delivered the money! None of it is illegal! Michael Cohen pled guilty to things that are not illegal!”

Rush Limbaugh is no lawyer, but he does echo what other top lawyers have been saying all alone. Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former attorney, is “pleading guilty to a crime that doesn’t exist”

Alan Dershowitz says a candidate [Trump] “can give contributions to his campaign” and can even have a second party pay it for him. Trump could’ve even said he’ll “pay you back. It’s my campaign contribution, and I want it to be hush money in order to help me be elected president.”  Dershowitz adds, “No crime. No crime.”

Cohen was cornered like a rat with his real crimes such as the five counts of tax evasion of more than $4 million from the IRS, so Mueller apparently struck a deal with Cohen to throw his former client, Trump under the bus for a lighter sentence.

Former US Federal Election Commission chairman Bradley Smith explained “almost anything a candidate does can be interpreted as intended to ‘influence an election,’ from buying a good watch . . . to buying a new suit so that he (or she) looks good on a debate stage.”

Bradley Smith goes on to say that US election rules and standards are “murky about whether paying hush money to a mistress is a ‘campaign expense’ or a personal expense.” After all, nobody said a word when President Bill Clinton paid off Paula Jones with a check for $850,000 after four years of litigation.

The last point on this is Trump wasn’t in public office when his “affairs” took place. These trysts happened to Trump the private citizen. One can argue that Trump wasn’t a private citizen because of his television shows [The Apprentice] and his movie cameos [Home Alone] and I will say, Trump wasn’t in public office. Period.

There is never no mention of the affairs of Bill Clinton or John F. Kennedy whose father, by the way had to pay Jackie $1million to stay in the marriage in order to make the family look pious and devout.

No Outrage!

Michael Cohen’s sentencing is set for 12 December and he was released on bail of $500,000.
